Montpelier, Idaho Train Station

Dad took the train from Kansas City, KS to this train station in 1961 when candidating to become the pastor of the Baptist Community Church in Afton, WY

Father and Son

We met a man at the station who let us look inside (it's now an office building) and took our picture

Down the tracks looking North

There were apparently a lot more tracks here at one time - many have been removed

Down the tracks looking South

Storm is coming!

For David

Tried to catch lightning flashes from the coming storm

Unsuccessful, unfortunately - had some nice lightning and thunder though!

Window in the train station

Appears to be original. The false ceiling is probably hiding the original stamped metal ceiling.

Our cabin in Afton and the hills behind

May not be able to see it without zooming in, but there is a star on the hill for Star Valley

Dad built the foyer and steeple

Log cabin church

Was originally going to be a residence

Sanctuary

Had about 40 people today at the service

Sunday School was at 9:30 - Pastor Amo picks up a bunch of kids in the church van, then takes them home afterwards. There were probably 20 kids for Sunday School.

Sunday School room one

Note the flannelgraph!

Sunday School room two

Kitchen

Ever seen a wooden drinking fountain?

Playground and Teepee

There were two teepees at one time - used for Sunday School in the Summers, I think.

Scrapbook pages from VBS and Christmas programs from a few years ago

Missionary board - this small church supports 17 missionaries

Note the Eckles family pictures on the lower left

The bell

Originally thought to have come from a Mormon chapel, it was later found out that it came from a Presbyterian church in Idaho Falls

The bell rope broke a few years ago - had to be fixed for Sunday!
